Why APC needs to exist

The Netherlands is a great country to live in. We have great public space, education etc. But this is under pressure. Our quality of living is declining because we no longer value building a better future and making money. We need to relearn that. Doing so is a complex puzzle. Requiring pro-business regulations, capital, etc.

This is complex stuff, and people like Jelle Prins (Operator Exchange) are bravely pushing for this. But we also need ambitious talent that learns from and pushes each other to be their best selves. This is what we facilitate at Amsterdam Product Club.

How did Adyen navigate regulations? How does Picnic think about their international expansion. How do the best startups plan their go-to-market? If we learn those things from each other we can all build better things faster. APC is a community of digital product builders that learn from each others successes and mistakes.

At this moment we do so with an online community, a newsletter and meet-ups. But we will not stop there. Our aim is to play our part in supporting the Dutch tech ecosystem, by being the place where builders go for community, support and learning.

Guiding principles

Our guiding principles are set in stone.

  1. Startups first - There are already enough corporate events that are “playing innovation” (yes we're looking at you TNW) instead of actually doing it. APC is for the doers and builders.

  2. Durable - This is a long-term community for long-term connections and learning. We’re here to stay.

  3. Independent - we’re not government backed. It’s from startup people to startup people. This also means we need to fund ourselves, which means we’ll need to charge for valuable things.

  4. Ambitious - It’s not a place to have a beer. It’s a community for people who want to become the best at what they do.
